Robbies Roar, Charity Event

On the 16th of May, I was very fortunate to play in a charity event for Robbies Roar, hosted by the Commonwealth Bank. A little bit below about Robbie

“On the 27/10/2014 at the age of 5 and ½ months old our beautiful son, Robbie, contracted Meningococcal B septicaemia. As a result of this in early November 2015, he had amputations on all four of his limbs.

Robbie was in the intensive care unit for 2 months before he was well enough to be transferred onto the Burns ward under the care of former Australian of the Year, Dr Fiona Wood.

He was transferred here as 80% of Robbie’s body was covered in necrotic tissue that required daily dressings in order to minimise the risk of infection until the amputation surgery occurred. Robbie endured these daily dressing changes for over a year (for Meningococcal cases, the previous longest recorded case of waiting prior to amputation in the world was 40 days) before the surgery and as a result Robbie has the length on his limbs he otherwise would not, if the amputations occurred when he was first admitted.

Its important to me to be able to support our local community in any form, and to help raise not only awareness, but money for a worthy cause.
